Voting services in Franklin for the 2016 federal election

Voters in the Division of Franklin have a range of options available to plan how they will vote for the federal election.

The Divisional Returning Officer for Franklin, Maree Ward, said early voting is now underway for voters who can’t make it to a polling place on election day.

“Early voting centres will be open for voters entitled to an early vote until 6pm, Friday 1 July. To find your closest early voting centre visit www.aec.gov.au or call 13 23 26,” Maree said.

Eligible voters who are unable to make it to an early voting centre can apply for a postal vote but should do so immediately.

Postal vote applications can be completed online at www.aec.gov.au/pva. Hardcopy application forms are also available from any AEC office or Australia Post outlet, or by calling 13 23 26.

“It is important for voters to apply early to ensure there is enough time to receive their ballot papers and complete and return them to the AEC by election day,” Maree said.

The location of some polling places in the Division of Franklin has changed since the previous federal election.

“Some polling places have closed and others have moved location since the previous federal election, so voters are urged to visit www.aec.gov.au to find out where they can vote on election day,” Maree said.

Voting in the 2016 federal election is compulsory for all enrolled voters.
