SEVERAL lucky locals received the chance to indulge in a brand new outfit as winners of Hobart City Mission’s (HCM) ‘Fashion for All’ Competition.
The HCM clients won a session with Erin Thorpe, a Perth-based fashion stylist, and a new outfit paid for by Eastlands as part of its Spring Fashion campaign.
“We are so grateful for Eastlands’ generosity,” HCM marketing and communications officer Anita Wheeler said.
“It is a reality that a lot of our clients need to prioritise putting food on the table or paying a power bill instead of spoiling themselves with a new outfit or a small treat.
“We are just so happy to be able to treat a few of our clients with something for themselves.”
Among the lucky recipients were the Gardiner family, who were so excited to hear the news.
“It was my daughter’s 15th birthday the next month, so it was such a lovely surprise,” Wendy Gardiner, mother of three, said.
“I can’t speak highly enough of the experience – Erin and all her staff were so helpful and friendly.”
Eastlands marketing manager Jackie Farrelly said at Eastlands, it was believed fashion was for all.
“A new outfit can be so powerful for someone’s confidence and self-esteem,” she said.
“When you’re not vulnerable or facing a hard time, it can be hard to appreciate how much a small luxury, such as a new item of clothing for yourself or your family, can make an impact.”
In addition to the gift of a stylist session and new outfit, Eastlands also partnered with Rhyme St Café Eastlands to provide dinner for the winners following the sessions.
