AROUND half-a-dozen different markets operate on the Eastern Shore at specific times throughout the year and among those is the Help A Child Handmade Market.
Motivated by a desire to help children in some of the world’s poorest slums, all stallholders’ fees go directly to Help A Child Foundation Australia.
Help A Child Australia is the Australian branch of the Help A Child Foundation.
Over the years, the organisation has provided aid to more than 60,000 children in Africa and Asia using funds derived from donations and child sponsorships.
In addition to raising funds for Help A Child Australia, the Help A Child Handmade Market also seeks to provide a low-cost-stall-fee market for Tasmanian artisans and crafts people who need a place to sell their craft and who want to see their fees go to a worthwhile charity.
The upcoming market will be held on Saturday 21 November from 10am until 2pm inside the Good News Christian Church in Howrah.
Its fundraising aim is for the Kolkata Child Development Project to be endorsed in one of the many slums of Kolkata in West Bengal, India.
