A COMMUNITY awards celebration held at the Emmanuel Christian School recently has brought together Clarence Plains locals to share in each other’s success.
The Clarence Plains Community Awards is an initiative of One Community Together (OCT).
Grace Church Rokeby senior pastor Dermot Cottuli said the Community Awards were very important as it was an opportunity to hear of all the wonderful work that was being done in the community.
“The Clarence Plains Community Awards highlight the incredible volunteers working tirelessly behind the scenes in our local community,” he said.
“It’s heart-warming and encouraging to hear good stories about the wonderful people who work so hard to make our community a better place.”
Clarendon Vale community member Rosemary Johnson said the Clarence Plains Community Awards were a fantastic way to bring the community together.
Fellow local Maureen McKay said they were very well presented.
“There was also a lovely supper which we enjoyed together,” she said.
Award winner Diedre Ayers congratulated Laura Bain from the Abundant Life Church on the well-presented supper.
The Clarence Plains Community Award winners for business were Howrah Fresh and Eris and Lawrence Gino, and the Prime Mover Award was given to Deidre Ayers.
Carer of the Year Award was given to Tamieka Clarkson and Kayne Taylor won the Young Leader Award.
Community Volunteer of the Year was won by Patricia Geard and the One Community Together Award was presented to Linda Nicholson.
‘Love in a Lunchbox’ won the Outstanding Community Project Award.
All Clarence Plains Community Awards were individually sponsored by different Eastern Shore businesses, residents, MPs and Mission Australia Housing.
OCT is a collective impact group working to build a safer Clarence Plains that is welcoming, attractive and passionate about the future.
