A BELLERIVE-based exercise instructor has been recognised for her dedication to helping individuals achieve their health and fitness goals.
Vicki Allan from Bellerive Quay Health Hub was announced as the Tasmanian winner of the Fitness Australia 2016 #ActiveAchievers Awards.
The awards recognise the outstanding work that fitness trainers and instructors do every day to encourage their communities to lead active and healthy lifestyles.
Ms Allan, who has 28-years of experience in the fitness industry, developed the “Sit & Be Fit Chair Exercise Program”, which has been running for 20-years.
The program has assisted many older adults to experience renewed vigor, strength, balance and improvements in their general health and wellbeing.
The award nomination is the second for Ms Allan this year, who was named a national finalist in the 2016 APNA Nurse of the Year Awards.
She said it was an honour and a privilege to receive the award in recognition of the work that she “loved” to do.
“I am in the enviable position of loving my work and being able to share it with so many wonderful clients on their way to achieving their health and wellness goals,” she said.
Ms Allan is now in the running to be chosen as the national #ActiveAchievers winner.
The winner will be announced at Fitness Australia’s Awards Dinner, which will be held at Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney on Friday 14 October.
Fitness Australia chief executive officer Bill Moore said the awards represented everything that was good about the fitness industry.
“The dedication of trainers and the positive outcome for their clients combine to generate an outcome that is the very reason that we all do what we do,” he said.
“It is the most fundamental expression of what our amazing industry stands for.”
The Sit & Be Fit Program is available at Bellerive Quay Health Hub as part of the business’ suite of healthy ageing programs.
