IN recognition of Dental Health Week, Kingston Beach Dental will be undertaking a range of activities and events around oral health care and education.
Running from 6-12 August, Dental Health Week 2018 is centred on the theme “Watch Your Mouth”, focusing on the whole mouth and improving oral health.
Kingston Beach Dental are getting on board with the key messages of the Australian Dental Association.
These include brushing your teeth twice a day, cleaning in between the teeth with floss or an interdental brush, eating a balanced diet with limited sugar and visiting the dentist regularly for check-ups.
Are you one of the 65 per cent of Australians who have not seen a dentist in the past two years?
The caring and gentle practitioners at Kingston Beach Dental encourage you to take a proactive and preventative approach to your oral health rather than waiting for a dental emergency.
Dr Martyn Sweet (practice principal), Dr Ram Pandey and Dr Emma Grubb consider regular preventative dental appointments as much of a priority as seeing the hairdresser or booking your car in for servicing.
Six monthly check-ups help to identify any issues early so that they are manageable and affordable.
Our dentists at Kingston Beach Dental are joined by two fantastic oral health therapists, Hannah Colantoni and Stephanie Gray.
They work closely with the dentists to see many of the children who attend our practice.
They also run the hygiene program and provide thorough cleaning and oral health education and advice.
Their roles are vital in educating and advising patients about how to floss and clean properly.
They also explain the importance of eating a healthy balanced diet and limiting the consumption of sugary foods and drinks to minimise tooth decay.
Statistics show that an alarming 73 per cent of people aged 14 to 18 are consuming too much sugar, resulting in significant effects on their oral and general health.
So, during Dental Health Week, take heed of these messages and get your dental health back on track.
