Bellerive Primary’s historic bus tour

BELLERIVE Primary School continues to celebrate its 175th anniversary in style through a wide range of activities and events.

Recently, staff were treated to a guided bus tour around the Eastern Shore as part of an activity for teacher planning.

Conducted by John Sargent from the Bellerive Historical Society, the tour provided the school’s staff with an understanding and education about the old school buildings in the local community.

Their knowledge can now be passed on to benefit the students, with all grades undertaking projects about the school’s long history.

Bellerive Primary School teacher Monique Hamilton said it was a “great team activity.”

“The tour was so informative and provided me with school and community facts that I wasn’t aware of,” she said.

“It also assisted my decision making with the class project to undertake for the year.”

The school will be holding key activities in early November with a week of major events.

Beginning 5 November, this will include several history bus tours available for former parents, staff and students, as well as current members of the school community.
