SINCE opening in 1996, Oceana Aquatic & Fitness has always had a swim school as part of its operations.
Now in its 21st year, the centre has just expanded its operations to include a new infants teaching pool.
The new pool has been designed specifically for teaching babies and infants up to five-years-of-age.
“With features that are unique in Tasmania, our new pool takes the whole program to a new level and is one of the best in Australia – world class, in fact,” Oceana Aqautic & Fitness managing director Dean Ewington said.
The new pool features shallow ledges for the children to stand on while parents are in deeper water.
This provides children with more confidence to swim to and from their parent and significantly improve their skills.
We train our teachers using the Laurie Lawrence “World Wide Swim School” process and when Laurie saw the design of the new pool, his response was: “Perfect for teaching infants and that will be a great asset to your community.”
Local mother Lauren said she had tried other swim schools before, but was impressed with how up-to-date Oceana’s facilities and swimming teachers were.
“We like coming to Oceana because it is clean, the staff are friendly and the pools are warm for the kids,” she said.
“The lifelong lessons my kids have learned from swimming at Oceana are amazing – Chloe and Hannah are both doing really well and we just love coming each week.”
Oceana also has a new set of changerooms and a parenting room for changing and feeding.
There is also a chance to sit down and have a coffee or tea and with a water slide to be installed soon, no one is going to want to go home at the end of the lesson.
With research showing that children who learn to swim at an early age perform much better at school than those who don’t, parents should consider investing in lessons to make sure they give their child the best possible start in life.
The opening of the new pool means the hydrotherapy pool is now more available for warm water exercise and rehab.
There is also plenty of space for lap swimming before work and after 5.30pm.
Oceana has new supervised programs for those needing rehab and new group fitness classes in the pools.
