Winter appeal kicks off at Eastlands

HOBART City Mission (HCM) has teamed up with Eastlands to kick-start its annual Winter Appeal, which will raise funds to provide emergency assistance, advice and essential items for Tasmanians in need.

As part of the new partnership, Eastlands will provide a space within its shopping centre for customers to donate new or quality second-hand winter items for HCM’s Emergency Relief program.

Eastlands has also offered to reward the first 500 customers who donate and visit the service desk with a $10 gift card, as well as a corporate donation of up to $1000.

The donation station was launched in late April and has already received overwhelming support and the donation of many high quality items.

HCM chief executive officer John Stubley said the partnership was a “great chance” for the organisation to connect with communities on the Eastern Shore.

“We are pleased to announce this partnership and are grateful that they are giving back to our donors, who help make it easier for those struggling in Hobart during winter,” he said.

Financial donations for the Winter Appeal are also being accepted at Eastlands Customer Service Desk.

The donations from Eastlands will be given out to those who are most in need in Hobart or will be sold in HCM Op Shops to help fund the Emergency Relief program.
