TWO local Park Beach artists, Patricia Turner Smith and her daughter Eve Smith are exhibiting their works at an exhibition titled ‘The Painter and The Sea Urchin’ at The Dunalley Waterfront Cafe & Gallery which is a fitting location as their work is inspired by the sea.
Patricia paints oils and watercolours featuring the Tasmanian coast. She graduated in Fine Art in Tasmania in 1965 and has a fascination for the sea. Having had many exhibitions and won several prizes. In 2010 Patricia painted overseas in Morocco, UK, Paris and Provence. She now lives and paints from her studio overlooking Park Beach.
Eve creates ocean inspired apparel under the label ‘Sea Urchin Design’. As a surfer she is captivated by the ocean and it’ waves which are a strong feature in her designs. Each design is hand printed onto fabric and then sewn into clothing, cushions and bags. Eve studied Fashion Design in Hobart and has been influenced by her mother who made and sold textiles at Wendy Whitely’s boutique in New York.
The Exhibition runs until March 19 at The Dunalley Waterfront Cafe and Gallery 4 Imlay St Dunalley – open 7 days 9am-6pm dinner on Friday and Saturday phone 6263 5122.
