Festival celebrates power of belonging

THE 2010 Peace Festival celebrating diversity, community participation, inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging, is being held at the Bellerive Boardwalk later this month.

The festival, on Sunday, 26 September from 12 noon to 5pm, will offer a range of free activities including a concert featuring well known acts such as Son Del Sur, Chicada, Fabio and Honey Suckle Creek.  It has been organised by the Migrant Resource Centre and Greater Hobart Councils with community members and a vibrant group of young Tasmanians.

The PCYC MAC-Truck will kick-start some games of soccer, footy and other sports.  There will also be stalls offering information and clubs to join, a Circus Workshop run by Flipout Circus, and other activities for those wanting a fun afternoon in the beautiful surrounds.

Food stalls will be on site supplying refreshments. The 2010 Peace Festival can be found on Facebook by searching for “2010 Peace Festival.”

The Festival is being funded by the Community Support Levy and is supported by the Federal Government Department of Immigration and Citizenship through the Diversity and Social Cohesion Program.
