TWO Tasmanian tourism ventures have been named Australia’s best in the prestigious Australian Gourmet Traveller Travel Awards – the Maria Island Walk and the Port Arthur Historic Site.
Port Arthur Historic Site was once again named best Australian heritage experience by a panel of travel industry experts and Maria Island Walk was voted best eco adventure in the readers’ choice awards.
More than 34,000 votes were cast by the public in the readers’ choice award categories, with a panel of experts also selecting their pick of Australia’s best travel experiences.
The Australian Gourmet Traveller magazine is arguably the country’s premier travel and food magazine with an overall readership of nearly 300,000.
