THE City of Clarence kicked off a year-long celebration of its 150th municipal birthday on Australia Day with the annual breakfast on the Bellerive Boardwalk. The day featured a great Aussie quiz hosted by master of the one-liner, television personality John Blackman.

Winners of the Clarence Australia Day citizens awards from left, Gabrielle Brown, three organisers of the Time Out Activities program, Mayor Jock Campbell, Larissa Wuetschner and Sydney McClymont OAM APM.
Mayor of Clarence Jock Campbell, said there were many different kinds of Australians and many different ways of being Australian.
He expressed the hope that in Clarence, through the Australia Day celebrations, the community could encourage a more inclusive society that welcomes and respects the diverse cultures that have embraced the Australian lifestyle.
The Great Aussie Quiz focused on Australian history and current affairs, and was great fun for both participants and audience members.
Electoral rivals Deputy Premier Lara Giddings, Liberal Leader Will Hodgman and Greens Leader Nick McKim cast aside political differences to compete together as a team in the City of Clarence great Aussie quiz.
The politicians defeated a team of local historians, John Sargent, Dr Dianne Snowden and Wayne Williams, 22 points to 17 points in the light-hearted but challenging quiz.
Sixteen new citizens took part in the citizenship ceremony and the City of Clarence Citizen’s Awards were presented as follows:
